Pages may be exported in four ways:
- By pasting the article’s name in the box that is in the Special:Export page or use this alternative link: https://submers.org/index.php?title=Spezial:Export/FULLPAGENAME.
- Using the backup script dumpBackup.php which dumps all the wiki pages into an XML file. The dumpBackup.php only works on MediaWiki 1.5 or any other later versions. You also require direct access to the server so that you may run this script. Mediawiki projects dumps are more or less regularly made available for download from: http://download.wikipedia.org.
- Note that you sometimes might have to configure AdminSettings.php in order to run dumpBackup.php successfully.
- Using the OAI-PMH-interface which regularly fetches the pages that have been modified from a specific time. This interface is not available to the public users in wikimedia projects. OAI-PMH contains a wrapper format around the actual exported articles.
- Using the Python Wikipedia Robot Framework. The details about how this is done will not won't be explained here

The default settings will only include the current version of a page. You also have the option of getting all versions with the date, time, user name and edit summary. The latest versions of all templates that are either called directly or indirectly are also exported.
Additionally you can copy the SQL database. Versions prior to MediaWiki 1.5 used to create database dumps in this manner. We will therefore not explain this here.
