The semantic toolbar appears in the annotate and edit tabs of each page and contains tools for the semantic annotation of wiki text and the definition of the wiki's ontology in form of properties and categories. It shows the current annotations in the wiki text and is updated regularly when the text changes.
The semantic toolbar can be used with MediaWiki's standard text editor or with the syntax highlighting editor.
Annotations may be contributed to an article by templates. These annotations are ignored by the semantic toolbar. However, the content of templates can be edited with the semantic toolbar.
